Born from the imagination of its singer and guitarist Liam Bell, the project began in a studio set up in a shared house, before bringing together several musicians from the local scene, some of whom had previously played together in the folk band Parkville.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"541\" data-end=\"943\">The collective lays claim to a style it humorously describes as <strong data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"622\">\u201cbogan funk\u201d<\/strong>: an explosive blend of funk, groove and offbeat energy, deeply rooted in Australian pop culture. Their lyrics\u2014funny, sharp and nostalgic\u2014celebrate the small details of everyday life with a healthy dose of self-mockery, packed with references to icons of Australian life.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"945\" data-end=\"1230\">On stage, Playlunch delivers infectious energy thanks to a rich line-up combining guitars, bass, drums, keys, trumpet and saxophone.
